Novel therapeutic strategies: targeting epithelial–mesenchymal transition in colorectal cancer
نویسندگان
چکیده
Epithelial–mesenchymal transition (EMT) is a process during which cells lose their epithelial characteristics, for instance apical–basal cell polarity and cell–cell contact, gain mesenchymal properties, such as increased motility. In colorectal cancer, EMT has an important role in tumour progression, metastasis, drug resistance. There been accumulating evidence from preclinical early clinical studies that show markers might serve outcome predictors potential therapeutic targets cancer. This Review describes the fundamentals of EMT, including biology, newly partial associated changes. We also provide comprehensive summary compounds capable targeting markers, drugs trials those with repurpose potential. Lastly, we explore obstacles bench-to-bedside development.

Novel therapeutic strategies targeting tumor-stromal interactions in pancreatic cancer
Therapy-resistance and postoperative recurrence are causes of the poor prognosis in pancreatic cancer. Conventional therapies have a limited impact on the control of pancreatic cancer, resulting in the rapid re-growth of the tumor. The indispensable role of tumor-stromal interaction, which acts as a defender of cancer cells and enhances malignant potential, is being uncovered now. For example, ...
متن کاملNovel therapeutic Strategies for Targeting Liver Cancer Stem Cells
The cancer stem cell (CSC) hypothesis was first proposed over 40 years ago. Advances in CSC isolation were first achieved in hematological malignancies, with the first CSC demonstrated in acute myeloid leukemia. However, using similar strategies and technologies, and taking advantage of available surface markers, CSCs have been more recently demonstrated in a growing range of epithelial and oth...
متن کاملNovel therapeutic strategies targeting HIV integrase
Integration of the viral genome into host cell chromatin is a pivotal and unique step in the replication cycle of retroviruses, including HIV. Inhibiting HIV replication by specifically blocking the viral integrase enzyme that mediates this step is an obvious and attractive therapeutic strategy. After concerted efforts, the first viable integrase inhibitors were developed in the early 2000s, ul...
متن کاملTherapeutic strategies targeting cancer stem cells
Cancer stem cells (CSCs) are undifferentiated cancer cells with a high tumorigenic activity, the ability to undergo self-renewal, and a multilineage differentiation potential. Cancer stem cells are responsible for the development of tumor cell heterogeneity, a key feature for resistance to anticancer treatments including conventional chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and molecularly targeted the...
